You can install PortaSwitch from PortaOne’s server using the ISO file provided by PortaOne. The network installation (used starting from MR110) allows for installing any system release version and any available build from scratch.

The obsolete method of local installation from ISO files can be used if the network connection is slow and the network installation is impractical. In this case, PortaOne provides you with two ISO files (Disc 1 and Disc 2) that contain the following software required for installing PortaSwitch:

    • The Telecom Application Framework (free, open-source software) – required to install Oracle Enterprise Linux 8.8 (Disc 1).
    • The PortaSwitch (PortaOne’s proprietary software) – contains PortaSwitch packages (Disc 2).

Note that this method allows installing only long-term supported (LTS) release versions (which are any PortaSwitch MRs ending with 0 or 5), and only build 0. If you need any other release version or build, the PortaOne support team will update the system to the needed version during post-install operations.

Burn the installation ISO to the optical discs or USB flash drive (installation media). For instructions, check the chapter on How to create a bootable USB flash drive from a PortaSwitch ISO file.

The installation media provides a quick and seamless way to perform a complete server installation. The standardized installation procedure also simplifies further system maintenance. All the servers are identically installed using the same installation media (you should specify unique IP addresses, host names, etc., for each server).

Follow the steps given in the Installation process section to perform the server installation:

Assigning roles for each server (e.g., billing server, web server, etc.) should be done at step 16 after all hosts have been installed.
