Overview
Click2Call is a web browser extension that turns any number on a web page into a clickable link your customers can use to make a call. This allows customers to initiate a call without actually dialing the number on their phone, thus avoiding dialing mistakes and speeding up the daily routine. Click2Call uses PortaSwitch API and you can activate it in web browsers like Google Chrome and Firefox.
Requirements
Click2Call is available for any PortaSwitch system version starting from MR68. It requires an active Add-on Mart account.
To enable Click2Call service for your customers, subscribe to the Click2Call module in Add-on Mart.
Upon Add-on Mart activation, you receive the link to the Click2Call extension in Chrome Web Store or the setup file for Firefox web browser, which you then can distribute among your customers.
How it works
To start using the extension, they have to sign in using their account self-care credentials. When the user clicks on the phone number on the web page, Click2Call sends an incoming call to the IP phone or softphone registered under the same account. User picks up the phone and the call to the destination number is automatically initiated. Let’s see the flow in detail:
- Say a user, e.g., John Doe, installs the Click2Call extension on his web browser.
- Later, he wants to contact a Sales representative at PortaOne. For this, he opens the PortaOne website and clicks on the phone number to initiate a call with the representative.
- Click2Call sends a call control API request to PortaSIP.
- PortaSIP sends an authorization request to PortaBilling to check if John is allowed to make this call.
- In the case of successful authorization, PortaSIP sends a call to John’s IP phone, and the IP phone starts ringing.
- When John answers the call, another call to the destination number is automatically initiated.
- Once the second call is answered, John is connected to the called party without having to actually dial the number.
